Special 1v1 STEM Program

Identifying Drug Candidates for Cancer or Alzheimer’s Disease using Computational Screening Tools

Faculty Advisor: Assistant Professor, Cornell University's Medical School; Principal Investigator of a Lab at Cornell University

Research Program Introduction

This opportunity offers personalized, one-on-one research mentoring. Each student is assigned a unique project tailored to their interests, focusing on protein targets related to cancer or Alzheimer's disease. The goal is to identify drug candidates using virtual screening tools.

Dr. G will meet with each student to discuss available protein targets and finalize the selection for the research paper. Dr. G and the student will have approximately weekly meetings over the course of the 10 weeks.

Students will conduct research using computational tools, guided by these weekly meetings. The typical outcome is the identification of promising drug candidates, validated computationally, and documented in a research paper.

Program Structure

  • Equivalent of 10 x 1 hour 1-on-1 meetings with Faculty Advisor

  • Paper editing support from Faculty Advisor
