Feedback from Past Students

"As a heavy social media user, I was really interested in the posts related to South Korea’s presidential scandal back then and therefore hoped to conduct a research on how social media affects politics. My advisor, who has a background in media himself, was very supportive of my topic choice and provided great suggestions on how to gather academic resources.  Under his guidance, I was able to complete a 11-page research paper, which I felt extremely proud of. As a Yale alum himself, he was also kind enough to write a letter of recommendation for my application to Yale. When I found out I was admitted to Yale, I shared the amazing news with him immediately. It has been such a wonderful journey! Thank you!"

“My advisor was a professor at UC Berkeley. It’s so cool that he has a bat lab. After checking with my advisor, I decided to research on human brain’s mechanism to decide gender. My advisor taught me methodologies on this subject, which was very helpful for me to dive deep into genes and Hormones later on.  The most valuable takeaway from this practicum is that I learned how to do an independent academic research by using research methodologies. I really appreciate this invaluable experience!“

“I’ve always wanted something to demonstrate my unique traits in the college process, but I never thought I had anything to show for until the practicum opportunity popped up. My research in Israel was definitely a life-changing experience for me. Through my time there, I not only learned how to operate the Robot Operating System, the new standard platform for research robotics, but also gained incredible insight in entrepreneurship by interviewing investors and founders across Israel. My most valuable takeaway from that experience still has to be my newfound understanding of Judaism, Jewish history and the geopolitical situation in Israel through living with Jewish scholars and traveling to the West Bank with a policy analyst. Thank you for providing such unique and valuable opportunities for me!”
